Makeup Artist Tie Cooper Brings Hi BeautTea Party and Scholarship To ATL

There’s this dated stigma that the beauty industry is full of vanity and conceit. But, because of women like Tie Cooper and her annual Hi BeauTea Party, it’s receiving acknowledgement and recognition for what it really is – one that promotes and inspires self-confidence, self-care, and self-love. While it’s clear that these are much needed aspects for women, unfortunately, there’s a lack of funding when it comes to those who aspire to make their mark in the beauty industry. That’s where the Hi BeautTea party comes in.

Giving Back With Tea

Held at the Swan Coach House in Buckhead on August 18, this was Cooper’s first time hosting the event in Atlanta. And it was more than a gathering of women discussing their love for makeup and hair products over high tea. It was a scholarship event to raise money for women to attend cosmetology school. Because as Cooper put it, “no one without a certified license should be working on your face or your hair”.

While this was a sophisticated event to say the least, there was hardly a dry eye in the room as Cooper shared her heart and passion for giving back; and awarded a gorgeous aspiring makeup artist with a scholarship to the prestigious and well-known Gwynnis Mosby Makeup Academy in Atlanta.

From an overview of the history of tea, to the ladies learning how to drink it properly with delicious tea delicacies, to attendees receiving party favors with adorable tea bag holders and hair product from one if its major sponsors, Creme of Nature, it’s safe to say Cooper literally thought of everything. The women also enjoyed pampering stations, makeup and hair demos from some of the top celebrity artists like Joyua Gibson, Mel Smith, and Meka Stylist, a fashion show featuring Pretty Pieces clothing line, and vendor shopping. The event also included several raffle giveaways where a handful of attendees won top notch beauty products.

The Panelists Give More Inspiration

Still, one of the best parts was a panel of four women who have made a heavy impact in the beauty industry and will clearly continue to do so throughout the years: Tahira Wright, founder of The Cut Life, Christelsie Johnson, owner of My T.R.U.E. Beauty LLC, Tracy Nicole, CEO of Tracy Nicole Clothing, and Teneya Gholston, who was just named the Senior Director of Marketing for Creme of Nature. While most of them initially had career paths that were very different from the beauty industry, this is now their full-time love. They encouraged the women that it’s never too late to step in, because there’s room for everyone at the top.

Thankfully, because of Cooper’s event (that she announced would be an annual one in Atlanta), many women who do aspire to join the industry can get the funding they need.

The event was sponsored by Creme of Nature, Core, The Cut Life, The Spa at The Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and The Glamatory.
